1893 Freemasonry Genuine Masonic Weather Station, Barometer, Carved Wood

A small charming barometer, antique weather station barometer thermometer in hand-carved wood. Amazing piece of history! It is very decorative. Masonic weather station with a Masonic emblem on the dial and mechanism (see photo). The weather station depicts the logo of Freemasonry, the Masonic compass and square, and the letters G. Two temperature scales are designated: the Reaumur scale and the Celsius scale. The inscription on the dial: G. Frei METALL BAROMETER Barr. Most likely, the weather station was made in 1893. The same model is shown in an advertisement for 1893. Dimensions (inch): 18.9×9.4. The barometer is working, the thermometer is working, but I cannot guarantee the accuracy. On the back of the case s/n 2338 and 2108. Important: the age of the product is approximate. Vtg Round Lufft Desk Hygrometer Brass Lu? Ftfeuchte (humidity) Germany – Works! The company is still around….. He had the task to prepare scientific experiments and build up and maintain the instruments as well as the facilities. In 1873, when he was 25 years old, he took over the well-established optics business SF Trostel in the Eberhardstrasse 37, in Stuttgart. Here, he started with the production of aneroid capsules in the very same year. From the exemplary documentation of the Lufft house, it is evident, that these membrane capsules were known in Germany in the beginning 70’s in Germany already but obviously needed to be imported from France. It became a market which was administered by G. Lufft very successfully, at the beginning in his optics production workshop, from 1881 on in the newly founded mech. There, aneroid barometers, compasses, hygrometers and further meteorological instruments were produced.
