Mahogany Barometer Case by Robert Cammack Of Ormskirk England Active 1855-85

Robert Cammack of Ormskirk. The case is not a functioning barometer. The glass tube is missing from the back of the case but the pulley and brass plate are intact. The thermometer is missing from the front neck of the case. The case measures 12″ wide, 3″ deep and 38 in height. Greenwood and Nina Belle Wooten, Sr, of Austin, Texas. Greenwood was a prominent Austin pharmacist operating Greenwood Pharmacy for thirty years. He was also a member of a pioneer Austin family. His grandfather had been instrumental in establishing the University of Texas at Austin and served on the first Board of Regents as did Greenwood’s father.
Antique 1914 Tycos Brass/Copper Frame Barometer Adjustable for Altitude

The plate on the back indicates it was patented in 1914. It is unique in that the user sets the altitude of his location to obtain an accurate reading. The body of the instrument appears to be copper but there are indications that it was brass plated. It is in good shape and I have noticed changes in the readings over the past several days. There is minor cracking of the paint on the dial. It is 5 1/8″ in diameter and 2 1/2″ deep.
