We are very pleased to offer an antique, circa-1915, TYCOS “CYCLO-STORMOGRAPH” barometer weather forecasting instrument, enclosed in a wood-and-glass case. It was manufactured by Taylor Instrument Companies, of Rochester, NY, and comes with the original chart paper and assorted explanatory paperwork. The case measures 13″ across, by 7-3/4″ wide by 8 tall, and all of the interior hardware appears to be in very good condition. The case is also in very good condition, with no damage. Bendix-Friez Vintage Barograph model recording barometer. Powered by self-contained 8 day jeweled Chelsea clock mechanism, it records the barometer on charts placed on the drum. The ID plate says Aero 1927 USN No. 559-44 and the serial number is 4768. It appears the clock mechanism needs repair. The drum does not turn. This large antique J. Hukins Alcester wood barometer/thermometer measures 43 long and has a metal hanger at the top for mounting on the wall. When we layed it donw to open the back for photographs a pointer came loose inside the glass so the cover will need to be unscrewed to secure it back. There is also a knob or something gone right above the makers name towards the bottom and we would guess that this piece may date back into the 1800’s. This is a wonderful antique barometer showing a guilt metal mermaid holding the barometer in her arms. It has a porcelain dial with a black wood base with a blue and white enamel flag of the Kerr steamship line. It does work but may need a cleaning of the mechanism. It is in very nice condition showing very little wear. All the gold guilt is intact. 7.25 inches high x 3.75 diameter base.
