Antique aneroid barometer by Dollond & Aitchison of London. Octagonal scalloped shape, nice high-shine finish on the wood, wall mountable. Plate reads, Presented to W. By his colleagues in H. Considered historically significant to have both company names as the maker. While Dollond, a company known for its high-quality instruments, previously produced aneroid barometers, the company shifted focus primarily towards Aitchison’s retail optometry (binoculars, eyeglasses) after the 1927 merger, allowing for a very short window of opportunity to produce or market scientific instruments together. Some wear with age, but amazing condition for almost 100 years old. No deep chips or scratches, some surface wear as photographed, no split wood, wear on hardware.
