From my Barometer Collection: Here we have an Antique ADOLF FRESE, LOS ANGELES, CA, Gentleman’s Gilt Brass’RARE’ Combination Pocket Barometer, Altimeter & Thermometer. The company discontinued the manufacture of engineering equipment around 1925. The dial is marked with:’COMPENSATED Adolf Frese, LOS ANGELES. This is a RARE! Combination instrument that includes an aneroid barometer and a thermometer!!! This instrument is in Very good’used’ condition. The barometer is in working order and has been verified by use of the’plastic bag’ test. The thermometer is also in working order and indicates changes in temperature as seen in the small curved tube on the face. The brass case has a good aged-patina finish. The dial surface is in very good condition with a clean appearance and the revolving altimeter ring moves as it should. The beveled-edge crystal is in very good condition with no cracks or edge nicks. The top crown and bow ring are in very good condition with some wear to the finish. Barometer is 2″ in diameter and 5/8″thick. It comes with its original red Moroccan leather covered case which h. S green felt and satin linings. T has a good hinge.
