This is the only model shelf calendar clock by Seth Thomas that is weight driven, and a very hard calendar clock to acquire. The upper 7 1/2 inch roman numeral dial gives the time, while the lower dial gives you the month, day of month, and day of the week. Both movements are powered by one eight day WEIGHT brass movement signed S. It is interesting that the movement says Plymouth, Conn, which was before 1866, when the name of Plymouth was changed to Thomaston. The original label is on the inside of the front door with Thomaston, Conn. Meaning the movement was made a few years before the case, and stored until it was needed to fit this case, after the name change, thus called one of their’Transition’ clocks. The clock measures a very large 33 x 17 inches, with its case in excellent conditon, with a key door lock on the side of the case.
