Very detailed and rare beefy French Patinated Gilt Bronze Barometer. Barometer is working perfectly. Floral and wreath decorations with Pineapple on bottom. Double wreath loops to hang from the wall. Last quarter 1800’s I believe. This is not your typical barometer made of wood or metal or combination. This is a all bronze barometer with engine turned dial. Made for the wealthy. Heavy, dimensions are 12 inches tall by 6 inches wide. The gilt could use a light cleaning but ill leave that to the new owner. Its possible there is a matching clock out there though. A barometer is a scientific instrument that is used to measure air pressure in a certain environment. Pressure tendency can forecast short term changes in the weather. Many measurements of air pressure are used within surface weather analysis to help find surface troughs, pressure systems and frontal boundaries. I believe the adjustable arrow is for you to turn to current condition and see the change over a period of time.
