No reproduction without prior written consent. We’ll be sending out sale notices and special deals to our’Favorites’ customers. Fabulous antique Victorian to early Edwardian era Black Forest hand carved 29″ tall wall barometer with thermometer on milk glass, “Fruits of the Hunt theme with hare, game bird, trophy style deer or stag mount on top and bugle with satchel, powder horn & rifles below! The case entirely hand carved, just look at the exceptionally detailed array of reticulated leaves, branches and implements that comprise the work top to bottom. A hunt themed piece, as was (and is) most popular in these remarkable old Black Forest carvings. A majestic deer or stag trophy style mount at the top, a hare or rabbit and game bird on either side of the thermometer plaque, hung as if fresh from the hunt. The barometer itself framed in a curled horn or bugle with the mouthpiece at the top and large trumpet end protruding form the bottom. Also forming the bottom finial is a hunting satchel, powder horn and canteen perhaps and two crossed rifles. The aneroid barometer dial in card with French markings, the center open so the movement or inner mechanism is visible. The original thermometer also intact and mounted on an opaque milk glass panel with black enamel celsius markings. A truly fantastic decorative piece, great size and even better figures! Very good to excellent condition. Possibly a small nip here and there but there are no large chips, cracks, damage or repairs to note to the expansive wood case. Also, the stag has a two-toned glass eye on the right side and the left appears to be a black replacement (I didn’t even notice until working on the greatly enlarged photos for the listing). The barometer and thermometer appear to be in fine working order but we’ve not tested them for accuracy. See pictures for all measurements. We’re easy to deal with. You are very important!
