I have for sale an authentic antique French barometer. I believe it was made in Paris, France in 19th century, in the Louis XVI style. On the dial is written “Selon Toricelli” which I believe refers to Evangelista Torricelli. Who was a famed Italian. Who invented the barometer, and made advances in optics. It is made of wood and glass mostly. The numbers and lettering on the dial are hand painted. The frame is made of back-painted gilt glass. It is missing the glass front cover. The dial face has a crack across it. The thermometer tube is missing on top. Some of the molding are broken off/missing. It does have the glass tubing, and the mechanical parts on the back. But I’m not sure if it’s functioningI would have to say it is not working. The dimensions are: 36.75″ tall, 23″ wide, and 3 deep. This is a beautifully crafted wall hanging piece. That has sense of history and old world charm. The item “Antique French SELON TORICELLI Barometer. Louis XVI Gilt Glass PARIS. RARE” is in sale since Thursday, February 11, 2016.
