It is engraved on the back panel with the date “84″ meaning it was made in 1984. Since these often do “duty” on ships and yachts, it’s very rare to find one in this fabulous condition. It was obviously never exposed to water or the elements and is clean and pristine, appears to work fine as the needle moves in accordance with the weather. The mechanism looks clean and perfect. Condition “issues” are negligible on this one. There is an almost indiscernible little scratch on the brass rim around the face. If you stare at the photos long and hard, you might actually see it. It disappears when displayed on the stand. Also, a small piece of ID tape was placed on the top of the cylinder and when it was removed, it left a small lighter rectangular area which will probably oxidize in the air over time (it already is). The clock is lacquered so polishing it is not advised and sheen is already amazing. Just light dusting will keep this barometer looking like it does now for years and years. Normally, these have endured an amount of pitting or corrosion which this was does not have and even over 30 years later, still has its original high luster. Note on the stand. I will include the wood stand shown in the photos as it looks terrific for displaying the barometer but please know this is. Not the original stand. (which is very expensive) but this stand was simply a stand made originally to hold a set of glass coasters, yet it looks perfect and holds the barometer securely because it is just the right width and depth! Barometer is 5 3/8′ front diameter & back diameter is 5 5/8. There are a set of strategically placed screw holes if you wish to mount the barometer.
