This is a vintage, compensated, aneroid barometer. Crafted by Stemwedel Incorporated of Chicago, Illinois. The piece has an overall diameter 5 3/8″, with a depth of 1 5/8″. The case is crafted from brass and wood with a glass crystal. The case is in fine condition being free of any cracks, splits or dents. The brass wheel that turns the setting pointer moves correctly. The crystal is free of any cracks or chips. The face reads, Made in U. It shows the air pressure delineated in inches from 28 to 31.5. The rear adjustment screw moves with ease. The barometer is in fine working order. It is currently adjusted for an altitude of 90 feet. It has been keeping the correct barometric pressure for the last week. Additionally, the piece was pressure tested it in a plastic bag with the pointer responding correctly. A pleasing example of this vintage barometer.
