A very fine detailed, metal, leather covered case that contains a thermometer, barometer, and a very accurate compass. The case has some issues, (leather has come off the top) but it looks like it could be restored very easily. It’s all there, nothing is missing. All three instruments seem to work very well, this is not a cheap item, you can tell it is quality. The compass has a knob that releases the compass needle and it turns on a ruby bearing. Just like the best pocket watches from the 1800’s. I would guess that this dates from about the same time. The thermometer has a large bulb and is filled with mercury and is mounted on a plaque that looks like ivory. I can’t really tell if it’s real or faux. The barometer has a small set screw on the back for adjustment. Top inside is lined with green satin and it has a small push-button clasp on the front. The item “Antique travel barometer, compass, thermometer” is in sale since Monday, December 08, 2014.
