This mathew berge barometer is beautiful. This one was found at an estate sale in the rochester, ny area. From the research that has been done i believe it is from around 1810. His stick barometers are very sought after. The glass was apparently broke at one time and replaced and the mercury also needs to be replaced. I spoke with a company that does repair and restoration on antique barometers and was told these can be repaired. These barometers, in working order, have been listed from $3,000 to $4,600. If you would rather not repair it it would be a fabulous wall piece or christmas gift. I’m not good at distinguishing different types of wood, so not sure if it is mahogany.
