I hardly found any information on the company, too. Just some old ads dating to the late 1800’s. From these, i have ascertained that the company was located in watertown, ny.
I think the bottom wood piece may have been replaced sometime during its long life. The wood color is just different and it does not exactly cover the opening where the bottle is located.
Just a tiny bit of the opening exposed on the left side. This may be a result of how the wood was screwed in and it could have shifted a bit below. I do know that people who collect barometers/thermometers have expertise that is much deeper than mine as a general antiques dealer.
The top of the bottle unscrews so you can fill with liquid. 40″ l x 5″ at widest point.
